The User’s Committee has the mandate to protect the rights of users. The principles underlying this mandate are: the committee acts independently; represents all users; makes sure that users’ rights are respected; and develops a partnership with the establishment.
Services Provided
Informs the users of their rights and obligations.
Fosters the improvement of the quality of the living conditions of users and assesses the degree of satisfaction of users with regard to the services obtained from the institution.
Defends the common rights and interests of users.
Accompanies and assists a user, on request, in any ;action he undertakes, including filing a complaint.
Areas of Activities
The committee informs users of the hospital’s Code of Ethics and complaints process, and may do this through information sessions, bulletins or articles in the newspaper. Accepts complaints/concerns, verbal or written from users, which are then forwarded to the Executive Director for review and follow-up. May conduct client satisfaction surveys, make room visits and manage a user suggestion box. They may also make themselves aware of the surroundings (cleanliness, safety), food (quality, choice), activities and treatment offered to clients, and in turn provide feedback to hospital administration. May provide social activities for residents with a view to improving the quality of their living conditions.
